What are the dividers made of?

All dividers are 3D Printed from PETG filament. PETG has good UV resistance and chemical resistance. I’ve had some PETG products in my salt water aquarium under water for more than a few years at this point with no signs of degradation.

What are silica gel beads and why is this important?

Silica gel beads are a form of silicon dioxide (silicon and oxygen atoms). There are large amounts of voids and large surface areas allow water to absorb really well. It’s one of the most popular desiccant (drying agents) available to consumers.  They are vital to the tackle industry as for when they are installed in a air tight container, it will absorb all the water out of the air and it will greatly reduce the risk of rust forming on the tackle.

How much do I need per tackle box?

This really depends on your climate and where you store your tackle boxes. If you store your tackle boxes in a very humid environment (on a boat, in a garage, etc) you’ll need to either monitor the beads more closely for the color change, or you’ll need to keep more in your tackle box. If you live in a dry climate and you keep your boxes in your house, a single divider will probably be just fine. Ultimately this is a trade off, you can put a bunch of them in your tackle box and never have to "recharge" them but you'll have no tackle in there. In general our favorite product is the double wide versions. It provides a significant amount of silica gel beads with a "not too much" space requirement.

Is Silica gel beads safe?

They are considered to be GRAS (Generally recognized as safe) by the FDA. Despite that, they are often containing the label “Do not eat” this is because it isn’t food and it could be a choking hazard. Now there are versions of the silica gel beads that turn blue to pink and in those ones they use cobalt chloride which is a known carcinogen. We do not use those beads.

How do I recharge / regenerate / reactivate the silica gel beads?

The beads can be reactivated by placing in the oven for 1-2 hours at 200-250 degrees. The more “spread” out they are the better during this process. Also you may want to “stir” them a little bit to ensure they get the ability to release the water. They will turn back to orange after they are re-charged.

Why should we use your dividers rather than the ones that come with the tackle boxes?

They both work in the exact same method. The difference is the products sold here can absorb significantly more water than the ones that it comes with stock. Generally speaking all of our products more than double the amount of silica gel beads (by weight) than the stock ones.

Can I request a modified product?

We are open to listening to ideas.

Why don’t you make a product that fits xyz tackle box?
